Job Description

State Bank of India (SBI) is inviting applications for 2273 permanent posts of Circle Based Officers (including 2050 regular and 223 backlog vacancies). Interested candidates may apply on or before 18-02-2026.

Circle Based Officer (CBO) 2273 (2050 regular and 223 backlog) 21 – 30 years Graduation in any discipline from a recognised University. Candidates possessing qualifications such as Medical, Engineering, Chartered Accountant, Cost Accountant would also be eligible.

AND

Candidates must be proficient in specified local language of the applied Circle. A language test will be conducted before joining for selected candidates, and failure to qualify will lead to rejection. Tthose who studied the language in 10th / 12th standard will be exempted from Language test.

AND

Minimum 2 years’ Post Qualification Working Experience as on 31-12-2025 as an officer in any Scheduled Commercial Bank / Regional Rural Bank.

Salary Details

  • The starting basic pay is Rs. 48,480/- in the scale of 48480-2000/7-62480-2340/2-67160-2680/7-85920 plus 2 advance increments.
  • Initial inhand salary will be approx 85000 per month.

Experience Criteria

  • Candidates working with subsidiaries of Scheduled Commercial Banks are not eligible to apply.
  • Candidates working in SBI in clerical or supervisory cadre, or engaged on a contract basis, are not eligible to apply.
  • Candidates who have resigned from officer grade posts in SBI or Associate Banks, or were previously engaged on a contract basis in SBI and have resigned or exited from the Bank, are not eligible to apply.

 

Mode of Recruitment :

The selection process will consist of Online Test, Screening, and Interview.

Online Test

The Online Test will consist of an Objective Test of 120 marks and a Descriptive Test of 50 marks. Descriptive Test will be conducted immediately after conclusion of the Objective Test. Duration of Objective Test will be 2 hours, with 4 sections. There will be separate timing for each section.

There will be no sectional qualifying marks. The minimum qualifying marks on aggregate and for the interview will be decided by the Bank. There will be no Negative marking. Descriptive Test will be of 30 minutes duration. It will be a test of English Language consisting of Letter Writing and Essay, with two questions for a total of 50 marks.

Screening

Online applications and documents of candidates who qualify in the Online Test will be placed before the Screening Committee, for verification of required experience criteria. A merit list will be drawn Circle-wise and Category-wise on the basis of aggregate marks scored in the Online Test for candidates who fulfill the required experience criteria.

Candidates numbering up to 3 times the number of vacancies, subject to availability of qualified candidates, will be called for interview.

Interview

The Interview will consist of 50 marks. Candidates will have to score minimum qualifying marks in the interview to be considered for final selection. The minimum qualifying marks will be decided by the Bank.

Final Selection

Marks scored in the Online Test out of 170 marks will be converted to 75 marks, and Interview scores out of 50 marks will be converted to 25 marks. The final merit list Circle-wise and Category-wise will be prepared by aggregating marks converted from the Online Test and Interview (weightage of 75:25).

Local Language Proficiency Test

Candidates must be proficient in the specified local language of the applied Circle. A language test will be conducted for provisionally selected candidates, and those who fail to qualify will not be offered appointment.

Candidates who produce 10th or 12th standard mark sheet or certificate evidencing having studied the specified opted local language of the applied Circle as one of the subjects will not be required to undergo the language test.

Fee Structure :

Applicable application fee is to be paid online. Fee structure is –

How to Apply :

Candidates must apply online by following the step-by-step process given below:

  1. Keep a valid and active email ID and mobile number, as all communication and alerts will be sent through email or SMS.
  2. During registration, a registration number and password will be generated and displayed. Note them for future use.
  3. Before starting the application, keep scanned copies of photograph, signature, left thumb impression, handwritten declaration, and required documents ready in the prescribed format.
    1. Photograph must be a recent passport-size colour photo with light background. File type should be JPG or JPEG, preferred dimensions 230 x 230 pixels, and file size should be between 20 KB and 50 KB. Photograph must be clear and properly visible.
    2. Signature must be done on white paper using black ink pen. File type should be JPG or JPEG, preferred dimensions 140 x 60 pixels, and file size should be between 10 KB and 20 KB. Signature should not be in capital letters.
    3. Left thumb impression must be taken on white paper using black or blue ink. File type should be JPG or JPEG, preferred dimensions 240 x 240 pixels at 200 DPI (approx. 3 cm x 3 cm), and file size should be between 20 KB and 50 KB. If left thumb is not available, impression of one finger of left hand or right hand or toe may be used, with specification mentioned.
    4. Handwritten declaration must be written by the candidate in English only on white paper using black ink. File type should be JPG or JPEG, preferred dimensions 800 x 400 pixels at 200 DPI (approx. 10 cm x 5 cm), and file size should be between 50 KB and 100 KB. Text must not be in capital letters.
    5. Scan documents at a minimum resolution of 200 DPI, set colour to true colour or file size as prescribed, crop images properly, and upload only in JPG or JPEG format where applicable.
  4. Fill the online application form carefully and upload all docs. Once finally submitted, no changes will be allowed.
  5. Pay the application fee online through debit card, credit card, or  internet banking by following the on-screen instructions.
  6. After successful payment, the e-receipt and application form will be generated. Candidates should save or print a copy for their own future reference.
  7. Do not send the printed application form or documents to the State Bank of India at this stage. Only keep a copy for future use.
