• Perform phlebotomy and pre-analytic and post-analytic duties as needed.
• Correctly verifies that the proper specimen is being analysed for the correct patients and that the correct test is
being performed.
• Judges the adequacy and qualities of specimens submitted for testing.
• Analyses clinical laboratory specimens following the standard methods and procedures approved by the

• Performs routine preventative maintenance and troubleshooting on assigned instruments and equipment
according to established schedule and procedure. Performs and documents instrument functions by checking
and calibrating specific lab instruments and data.
• Releases or reports results per Laboratory Standard Operating Procedures.

testing.
• Organizes work by matching computer orders with specimen labeling, sorting specimens, checking labeling, logging
specimens, arranging reports for delivery keeping work surfaces clean and orderly.
• Blood collection, separation, delivery and storage of blood components.
• Testing for blood group antigens, compatibility, and antibody identification.
• Identifying blood types and antibodies.
• Performing viral marker testing to ensure patient safety.
• Investigating abnormalities such as hemolytic diseases of the newborn, hemolytic anemias, and adverse transfusion
reactions.
